Michael is a graduate student in Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations at the University of Chicago.  He is currently finishing his dissertation on the archaeology of Jericho in the Byzantine and early Islamic periods. An interest in urbanism and urbanization has led Michael to investigate cities throughout the Mediterranean and Near East, including field projects in Italy (Palermo and Ravenna), Jordan (Aqaba), and Palestine (Jericho).
